West Midlands Police will get an extra 366 police officers next year, thanks to new funding announced by the Government.
The allocation - the highest for any police force in the country apart from the Met - makes up the West Midlands' share of a 6,000 target for the 2020-21 financial year.
As Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Home Secretary Priti Patel, Dudley South MP Mike Wood is working closely with Home Secretary to support her as she recruits 20,000 additional police officers over the next three years.
All officers recruited as part of the 20,000 uplift will be additional to those hired to fill existing vacancies. They are also on top of the extra officers already being recruited because of the £1 billion increase in police funding for 2019-20, which includes money from council tax and for serious violence.
Government funding for recruitment in 2020-21 will cover all associated costs, including training and kit.
