Following the success of last year’s event, Dudley South MP, Mike Wood, is organising his fifth annual Jobs and Careers Fair for local people to meet representatives from a range of employers and work training organisations.

Sponsored by Intu Merry Hill and in partnership with the Department for Work & Pensions, the Jobs Fair will take place at Brierley Hill Civic Hall from 11am to 3pm on Thursday 26th September.

The event seeks to provide people with face-to-face contact with employers from a range of industries and sectors who are currently recruiting to fill vacancies.

West Midlands Police Force, Lloyds Bank, TK Max, KFC, Dudley Council, Barnardo’s, Transport for West Midlands and the West Midlands Ambulance Service are just a handful of employers attending the fair.

Last year over one thousand people came along to speak to prospective employers and get some more information on the types of jobs and careers available in the local area.

The Mayor of the West Midlands, Andy Street, will also be making an appearance to show his support for the local job market.

Mike Wood said, “Whilst the employment rate in Dudley is better than in previous years, I know many people are still looking for their ideal job, which is why I’m looking forward to putting many of my constituents in touch with local companies that have open vacancies.

“Nothing beats having quality face-to-face discussions with potential employers about exactly what a role entails and further information on how to actually apply for it.

“We have over twenty employers attending the event with hundreds of job vacancies on offer, therefore I hope anyone who is currently looking for a job or a career change will come along to see what’s on offer for them.”
