Mayor’s Community Weekend brings generations together in Dudley South

Dudley South MP, Mike Wood, spent time attending some events last weekend in his Dudley South constituency as part of the Mayor’s Community Weekend initiative.

He visited the children and residents’ intergenerational sports fun day at New Bradley Hall in Kingswinford before chatting to parents and carers at Wall Heath Evangelical Free Church for their pamper day led by the charity More Mascots Please.

Last weekend over 160 events took place across the West Midlands to celebrate the second Mayor’s Community Weekend following the success of last year’s inaugural one.

The overall aim of the weekend is to celebrate diversity and bring the community together, whilst encouraging people to go out and engage with their neighbours.

The Dudley South MP was even able to join in with a game of badminton under Saturday morning’s hot sunshine at New Bradley Hall.

Mike Wood said, “It’s always immensely inspiring to see the local community in Dudley South come together in such a special way, especially at New Bradley Hall in Kingswinford where we saw children and older residents enjoying sports games together.

“Both the events I dropped into were fantastic and I would like to thank the organisers for putting on such a well organised weekend.”
