Mike Wood’s annual Dudley South Apprenticeship Fair saw over 100 apprenticeship-seekers through the doors of Kingswinford Community Centre last Friday afternoon in a productive afternoon for all involved.

Around 20 companies and organisations were represented at the event, all showcasing the type of apprenticeship opportunities they offer to young people in the local area.

There were around 100 vacancies on offer across all the companies that attended from a range of different industries, including engineering, hospitality and the Civil Service.

Many school leavers from local secondary schools came along to explore, as did adults who are looking for a change of career and a chance to gain some nationally-recognised qualifications.

Speaking after his event, Mike Wood said: “I am incredibly pleased with how my Apprenticeship Fair was received as we had a lot of people come along to see what opportunities are on offer for them.”

“This is my fourth annual Apprenticeship Fair and I really enjoy providing local people with the chance to meet employers face-to-face to discuss exactly what is involved in local apprenticeship schemes so they can make informed choices about what to do after they leave school or in the next stage of their career.”

“Thank you to everyone who came along, especially the employers themselves who have been brilliant in ensuring National Apprenticeship Week has been a roaring success.”
